Dorrie Matthews PE

Mechanical Engineer

Associate

Home Office: Springfield

Dorrie became an engineer to make an impact. With a focus on sustainable systems and design, she holds a B.S. in Engineering from James Madison University. Immediately following college, Dorrie spent four years working for a U.S. Coast Guard naval contractor where she worked on an array of projects, including the design for a prototype sUAS (drone) installation on USCG cutters.

Seeking growth and opportunity with mission alignment, Dorrie joined Systems West. Dorrie brings a steady drive and a keen eye for detail to all her work. She’s found a passion and focus for HVAC laboratory design, working on numerous laboratory projects ranging from fume hood and specialty lab equipment installations to BSL-3 lab design and full laboratory building renovations, such as Oregon State University’s Cordley Hall. She is an essential member of the Advanced Design Team supporting energy analysis and energy modeling with EDSL Tas software.

Originally from Virginia, she came to Oregon after exploring some of the far reaches of the U.S. – living in Nome, Alaska, and Hilo, Hawaii. She’s an avid scooter commuter, rarely getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Outside of work, Dorrie is often off on adventures with her two dogs and partner, or you might find her playing board games and exploring the city and local events.
