OSU Dixon Rec Center Improvements

We pride ourselves on our collaborative approach to engineering solutions that enhance the functionality and sustainability of various facilities. Our ongoing partnership with Woofter Bolch Architecture and OSU Dixon Rec Center exemplifies this commitment to excellence.

This project began with a focus on upgrading the pool system and replacing aging pool supply equipment, working closely with Woofter and OSU to provide mechanical and electrical support including the replacement of heating systems for pool water. Our collaboration extended to upgrading the pool distribution systems in conjunction with the pool design consultant, addressing critical infrastructure needs for improved performance.

Addressing Challenges and Enhancing Spaces

One of the challenges identified during our collaboration was related to chilled water system issues. Upon discussions with key stakeholders, concerns were raised about the oversized chiller and the need for additional cooling capacity in the building. Leveraging our expertise, we proposed solutions that involved repurposing existing heating-only air handling units to provide cooling to specific areas, optimizing chiller utilization and enhancing overall building comfort.

In addition to addressing immediate needs, our partnership facilitated the identification and resolution of deferred maintenance items. This included office area renovations and upgrades to spaces like the mind-body studio, aligning with OSU’s vision for improved functionality and aesthetics. As we delved deeper into these projects, we discovered underlying mechanical system failures, necessitating equipment replacements to ensure long-term efficiency and performance.

By stacking multiple projects and leveraging our trusted relationship with the University, we’ve fostered a collaborative environment conducive to innovation and problem-solving. Our longstanding partnership with OSU has been integral to our success at the Dixon Rec Center project.
